When you go to court and are ordered to pay court costs, where does that $$ go?

Over the past 6 years my husband and I have had an on-going nightmare with the judicial system, what started as a common mistake has rapidly escalated into us facing some serious time in prison. we are not perfect by any means, however we have paid easily over $10,000.00 to the courts, jails, bonds mans, classes, etc. It is insane, we are trying to do it all their way, but that means us bustin' our asses day in and day out and still starving. I went to the counties assistance programs, and was turned down, everywhere.

WHAT DO THEY DO WITH ALL OF OUR MONEY?

IF WE ASK IN COURT FOR AN ITEMIZED STATEMENT OF EXACTLY WHERE EVERY DOLLAR WENT, WILL THEY GIVE IT TO US??

It goes back into the system and no, the court is not obligated to give anyone an itemized statement.

By the way, if this has been going on for six years, you have a lousy attorney.

One thing I notice in your question that is absent! Where and WHO is your attorney?? If you have one, why has he allowed this farce to carry on so long? If he isn't willing to help you out, go find another one! I wouldn't worry about WHERE all your money went, it's under the bridge now. the thing to do right now, is to stop any more of your money flowing into other hands! Suppose you both lost your jobs, how is the Court going to get blood out of a stone?? You could also file bankruptcy. You really need to get some GOOD counsel.

I'm not sure about the US, but here in the UK court costs go towards paying for the courts administration. For example, upkeep of the courthouses, court staff, postage and other costs. Basically, it goes towards reducing the tax drain of the Courts Services.

it goes to the lawyers, magistrate and even the jury (because some people are self employed and will lose money if they attend a court, so then as a result, get payed for attending)

maybe, you should stop doing illigal things otherwise, you deserve to pay that amount of money.

  • it goes to pay for that judge's kid first DUI, you see its a vicious cycle. if you ask for an itemized statement their just going to tell you they lost it. sorry brother or sister your **** out of luck.
