Florida - poisonous snakes? Bears?
What kinds of things do I need to be aware of if I move to Florida? In particular, my husband and I are considering northern Florida, not really near the coast. Or we are also considering Georgia. But as far as northern/central Florida, are there any deadly spiders, poisonous snakes, bears, etc that I want to be aware of? I know there are panthers and aligators but are they really a problem? I have visited but mostly just drove straight to southern Florida. I will be moving from central IL where there is not a whole lot of anything but deer, coyotes, and squirrels, lol.
Thanks! I'd prefer to have information from those who live in the area but if you just really know about it well from research yourself, that's fine too.
also, does anyone know if the cost of living is high in northern Florida? Like I said, I won't be by the coast, so I won't be as at risk for hurricane damage, and at first we'd be living in an apartment I'm sure, but I didn't know if taxes are high, etc. If you have any info regarding this, that'd be great too. Thanks :-) Any info about moving to Florida would be great. Right now I'm mostly concerned with safety if I go on a walk lol.
Robberies, murders, etc are everywhere. I currently live in a college town where robberies actually happen quite often and there is the occasional murder. I can look up information about the murder rates online if I want, but I wanted to know people's personal experiences as far as wild animals in the area...

I live in fla, and ibeen in every part of it, there are no animals to worry about, they are very elusive. never seen a bear or a big cat. alligators dont move far from the water, you will have rattle snakes and bugs.If you live in town all you might have is a pesky raccoon. cost of living varies greatly based on where you live, oops I forgot to tell you about the dinosaurs, they are very aggressive

First there are no bears in all of Florida and though there are panthers, there have been little to know reports of issues with them. Alligators and crocs are fond of water and swamps. If you aren't near one or have a canal, no need to worry. There are plenty of deadly spiders in all States. There are plenty of deadly snakes in Florida but snakes don't want to interact with people if at all necessary. Snakes in Florida include the Diamondback, Cottonmouth, Coral, Pymy Rattle, and Timber Rattle. They are all venonmous. Florida has scorpions but they are non deadly just ugly. Outside of hiking through the Everglades, I wouldn't give much thought to living in fear of critters in Florida. You will be just fine.
