how do doctors usually treat a pinched nerve?

I believe that I may have one. I have made an appointment with a doctor. just wondering what is usually done to treat this.

Update:

It is in the lower back area effecting from around the hip all the way down my right leg.

    Pinched nerve - where?

    If it is in the wrist, you may be referred to physiotherapy or surgery.

    If it is in the back, you may be referred to physiotherapy or surgery.

    If you think it is due to a chemical imbalance, see an MD. But that is hardly alternative. If it is a structural problem, see a Chiropractor first.
