Question About Kidney Stone Pain for Veteran Stone Keepers?

First time kidney stone! OMG!!! Could anyone tell me if you can feel where it is in the ureter? I can feel pain but it feels like it's staying in the same place. However, I'm passing tons of urine (drinking at least a gal of water a day) so I couldn't possible be blocked. Is it actually moving and I'm just feeling the pain the same place anyway? (Right back and side) It's been 3 days... What is the feeling in progression on these devil spawn? Do you feel it hit the bladder? Does it hurt as bad when it hits the urethra as when it entered the ureter? Any experiences you'd care to relate would be great. Thank you.

More info: The stone is 3mm. I'm 21 weeks pregnant. Taking minimal amounts of percocet for the pain. Also drinking fresh lemon juice.

I had my first stone when I was 4 months pregnant, so I feel for you. DO NOT drink CRANBERRY JUICE!! The dr. said that cranberry juice works well for urinary tract infections, not kidney stones. She told me to stick to plain water, and it will flush out. Also, stay away from dairy products, as kidney stones are due to a calcium build up. The more water you drink and the more you flush your system, the easier the pain should get. I would get in touch with your ob-gyn, they may be able to recommend something else with quicker results. If I remember right, my stone lasted about 4 days... I remember the nurse telling me that if I could deal with the stone, labor would be a piece of cake. I didn't believe her at the time, but its true, so something positive for you to think of is that labor is easier!! Take care

When I was once within the ER with my first kidney stone, they gave me Fentanyl, and it did not anything for my anguish. Since they suspected that I had a kidney stone, the nurse gave me Dilaudid. She mentioned that it really works fairly good on kidney stones for a few rationale. I haven't any evidence or documentation, however it's potentially valued at learning and speakme to you health practitioner.

    ahh.. kidney stones. what fun.

i dont exactly remember it hitting the bladder. i could definitely feel pain in the ureter, and a lot more pain in the urethra. most pain ive ever been in in my life. try all natural cranberry juice, its really bitter and gross, but better than lemon juice.

Source(s): the pain from the stone will be a nice precursor for having the baby.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
