Do you think it would work...?

to tie a welfare check to a job? I mean, you must flip burgers in order to get your welfare check. You must work in a day care center in order to get your welfare check.

This would give people a reason to get up and work...and maybe improve their circumstances enough to get off welfare.

You see, I have no problem helping someone who is trying. I have a big problem giving my hard-earned money away to someone who only wants to sit on a couch.

Some people are not able to work and out of the people who do want to work, many can not get jobs now.

When you have a large home, insurance, security, and a family to take care of and you loose everything, well... sometimes it takes its toll on people.

We might accept a low paying job but then we would have to give up the state medical insurance for our family.

I think people want to work but society has made it impossible to accept anything for work because then we have to give up valuable medical insurance.

If you haven't watched sicko you should.

  • I agree, nationalized labor is a bad idea. The only nationalized labor I like the sound of would be the slave labor of the millions of inmates we have, put them to good use and make the prison system profitable.

I think we should do away with welfare altogther. Limited and short term unemployment that is not only regulate by enforced. People don't save money and spend wisely because they know that they can just live off their fellow taxpayers if they lose their jobs.

Get rid of Welfare and you will encourage savings, responsibility, and productivity in the workplace. That's the American way. Welfare is the Socialist way, and it just doesn't work.

I feel the same way. I work hard for the same company now over 9 years supporting myself, my wife and 3 kids and 2 pets. I don't like lazy people who don't want to try and do things for themselves. I think the government should handle it like they do unemployment. Make the person have to show proof that they are looking for work and if they say they can't work for medical reasons then they should have to show something from their doctor that proves it. I was in the same boat years ago because my old job shutdown our plant. I had to settle for a $6.00 an hour job for 3 months. We got some help for food but I kept at it looking for a better job and found one. I still work for them. We got off the help right away. It only takes a little hard work to make it in life. So I agree with you.
