Saw this at the pet store: what should I do...please read...?
Today at the pet store I went to I saw a finch in the same cage as a diamond dove. At that time the finch was pecking/preening the dove and 10 minutes later the same finch was biting the tail and "grooming" the tail and SITTING on the DOVE while doing this.
I just read on the internet that some finches have hurt these doves so bad at that feathers have fallen off these doves.
At that time I didn't think that it was a bad thing but now I feel bad.
Would it be ok if I call the pet store and let them know what's going on and ask them if they can move the birds?
Or should I just leave it alone and think/hope for the best.
Thanks..

I don't think it would hurt to call and just give your opinion.. just don't be disappointed or shocked if they brush you off.
I've brought many things to even managers' attentions at PetSmart and PetCo (mis-labeled birds, birds needing medical treatment or other care, animals with empty food or water dishes, EXPIRED food, etc.) and I have yet to see them ever do anything with this information (same bird is still mis-labeled, same bird still has insanely deformed and overgrown toenails, the SAME expired baby bird formula is STILL on the shelf even though I've brought it up to the cashier three times now, etc.)
It's sad, really.
It makes you not even want to give them patronage.
It's hard in my area though, there aren't a lot of options to choose from. I end up having most of my materials shipped in from other sources so I can guarantee it's fresh.

Animals and children need our protection, they have no voice of their own, so minding your own business is not an option. If we see something or someone helpless being hurt, and we say nothing, then we are as guilty as the ones that are hurting them.
Simply call or go by personally, and voice your concern. Hopefully, you will be able to bring something to their attention, that maybe they weren't even aware of. You might want to drop by and see if the situation has been remedied, or if there is any real harm being done to the dove. If so, and they don't fix it, then call the Humane Society and report them. Then you will have a clear conscience because you did everything within your power to help out the innocent and helpless dove, other than buying it yourself.

Ummm I think it's ok to call and tell them so long as you don't make it seem as though you are telling them how to do their job. I believe that would just irritate them and then nothing would get done. Voice your opinion in a sweet way then I would leave it alone and see if they do anything about it.

It never hurts to phone and ask about something like that. The worst they can say is no. But at least you tried.
