Why are my knees making a sound when I bend them?

I have been doing Boot camp for 4 weeks and recently I can hear a sound in my knees when I walk up the stairs or bending my knees. Do you have the same kind of experience? Do you know why?

It's the cartilage in your knee making the noise. I have this also, it can be caused from a number of things. Like a torn meniscus (cartilage), being overweight, genes being passed down from family members and a lot of excessive exercise (boot camp), etc. I have added a couple of web sites to give you more explaination. If you have pain with this joint popping than you could have a tear in your cartilage. Good luck and thanks for defending our country.
