Cremation or burial, what is your choice and why?

I don't oppose either, it's an individuals choice.

But I'm leaning towards burial, because I believe it's not our place to destroy the body that god created by cremation. And either or our bodies are being destroyed.

Is there anywhere in King James where it states what is best?

First I want to go with organ donation, because I believe it is a great gift.

Then I want the rest cremated, because I worked for a summer picking up garbage and I hate worms. Sometimes the garbage bags would be so full of it they'd wreathe. Even if I'll be dead and that'll be the end of it, I just don't want to give those disgusting insects any meat to feed on.

I believe that once I'm dead my body is just an empty shell, so I really don't care what happens to it after that.

My wife feels comforted by the thought of burial, though, so that's probably what will happen with me. I've made it clear that there's to be no extravagance, however. A good ol' pine box is fine for me.

As far as cremation being against God's will, I always think about what they say at every burial: 'Ashes to ashes, dust to dust'. Cremation results in ashes.

Disposal of the dead is left up to the culture. Scripture refers only to the manner of the Jews for dealing with the dead. It doesn't imply everyone should do it that way.

For myself, I would prefer burial. But finances may dictate cremation. But either way is fine. God is as able to resurrect a body that has been cremated and scattered as He is a body that has decayed in a casket in the ground.

Cremation only because the fact that we are running out of room to bury people. I did not beleive that it was normal either till I asked by preacher about it and he said that it was a choice left up to that person and not specifically addressed in the bible.

I want to be cremated. I grew up in the SW where many Native American beliefs still hold influence. They felt that the body needed to be destroyed in order for the soul to escape. And I still hold some of that to me, which is seen since my religion says you need your body to be fully in tact to reach the afterlife. but I don't think so. I want freedom. Burn me, let me go and float off into the wind.

Technically, either way our bodies are being destroyed, it just depends how you want it to happen-do you want to be "scorched" or would you rather let your body decompose itself? So...destruction by fire or ground? I would prefer cremation because you can have your ashes spread somewhere (my specific choice) or preserved in some fancy-schmancy vase-like urn. So...when I die, cremate me, and spread the ashes in Hawaii. There should be lots of good memories there to hold on to... ;D

I prefer burial, just because that seems more normal to me, but each person can choose what they want.

I remember a math teacher I had in high school - she was Jewish and said she would never be cremated. I asked her why. She said after what the Nazis did to the Jews, doing it to her body willingly just didn't seem right.

It's my body so I don't care what an invisible sky fairy thinks about how it decomposes. Please give us a break, not more madness, even our dead bodies are under the control of this invisible sky fairy now. PMSL

I want my body to be left out on some remote mountain to be eaten by critters. Give something back for all the taking I've done. If the invisible sky fairy does not like it, tough titties. :)

Cremation. The graveyards are big enough.

Actually I want to be dipped in bronze, put into a pool and have water shoot out of my mouth. Need to be cleaned and buffed once a year to remove pigeon droppings from my head.
