Is anyone watching A-Rod go down in flames?
He took the completely wrong approach to this, and this press conference is a disaster. Someone gave him bad advice. His whole excuse is that he was young and stupid. Hello? He was 24 and 25 years old. At that age you are a GROWN MAN. It is not like he was a teenager.
AROD's 1fan
Who said I was a Yankee hater? I would say the same thing if this was Bonds, McGwire, Giambi, Sosa, Palmeiro, Clemens, etc. You need to open your eyes!!

Yeah he looks like he is sweating bullets up there. I COMPLETELY agree with you. If he was in high school, that is one thing. But he was already in the majors and doing well. No reason for him to do this but he is certainly looking pretty amusing right now.
What is wrong A-Roid?? $30 million can't buy you a good press conference :) !

We all could sit here for hours and discuss what is wrong with A-Rod, what is wrong with Yankee haters, why the Yankee fans cheer him on, etc.
He made a mistake, doesn't matter how old you are - it was a mistake. Sure, the young and stupid comment was probably a bad move because you're suppose to be mature, but I know a lot of guys who still think that they are in high school/begining college at that age.
Maybe he was stupid then, who knows what will happen now. I'm just sayin' that we should wait to see if he does something stupid again. But he did make some really bad mistakes.

At 24 you're a grown man, and responsible for your actions, but that doesn't mean you're not young and stupid. Trust me, there's no pill they give you at 21 to make you more responsible. And doing what he's doing is taking responsibility for his actions. I dislike Arod, as the face of the organization that I hate more than any other in professional sports, but he's at least facing this like a man. And right now, he can't do anything more than that. It doesn't excuse what he's done in the past, or who he is as a person, but it's the only option he can take to keep the last shreds of his dignity.

He actually lied during the briefing. He said he was around 23-24 years old. According to Wikipedia, he was 28 in 2003 when he took steroids. Still, 23-24 year olds are adults not little teenagers running around.
Also, he said he only used steroids in 2003. Why should I buy anything he has to say? His only motive was profit and fame from the beginning. Also, he's only sorry AFTER he's been found out. He's only sorry he got caught.

What gets me is how there were 103 other players and A-Rod is the one answering all the questions. In a test that was supposed to be anonymous with no consequences, I would be pissed if this happened to me. In no way does this excuse his conduct, but I think it needs to be addressed and would not be surprised if we hear of lawsuit in the future.
Perspective: If there was an anonymous survey going around asking about illegal drug use to see what measures law enforcement needed to take in certain areas, and thousands of people admitted to using, I think there would be outrage if they then went around and started arresting these people for admitting to it.....
Once again, he is definitely not innocent, but if this were a court of law, this evidence would be thrown out.
Edit: BTW, I am not, by far, a yankees fans, I can't stand them........

You sir are a Yankee hater plus A-Rod did the right thing...he's not going down in flames I wouldn't be surprised if he was a great season with this not on his conscience and have a great postseason.

what else do you want him to say? he answered the questions, he admitted what he took, how, why and when, he said its wrong and that he is sorry. 24 is still young also, i know a lot of 24 yr olds that are as immature as 17 yr olds.

Doesn't look like he's going down in flames to me! He's telling the truth he was young he did it with his cousin, what more is left to say? at least he came clean.
You yankee haters are pathetic.

Some women would beg to differ on his maturity level. They would feel he was young and foolish. As you get older, you do not make the same stupid mistakes.
And anyway, who cares. He is overpaid like the other jocks.
