How many people on here also use Second Life and what do you think of it?

I loved the idea of it and joined a group too.

You are quite limited on what you can do in there but I enjoyed exploring peoples creations, some of the houses are really good.

But the next step is creating your own house or island or renting one, but to do this costs a great deal of money. It is also far from easy to create things, you apparently can use software such as 'Blender' to create houses and objects. Some do it, but I suspect that they have better software than Blender to do it with.

I think that Second life has huge potential, but until they make it easier (and cheaper) for us ordinary folks to create things then it will always be a place for nerds only.

There are better ones available, particularly if you are a teen. One I found starts you off with a house which you can furnish and decorate, then can get out to meet people. The people were too young for me so I'm afraid I haven't still got it on my computer so can't say which one it was, but I think it was 'World of Kaneva'.

Be warned, that every one of these I tried was buggy, expect to crash a few times, it is easy to get back in, but you will crash.

Here is a link to a wiki that has a list of virtual worlds. As I said I love the idea, just not the software as it currently is.

Tried it once while bored (off sick, day time tv alternative, not currently reading anything in particular) ages ago and it was pretty funny to find myself half naked with no hair 15 foot in the air yelling for help. Other than that..the novelty wore thin after about an hour.
