If you have provided with more information like number of bettas you have and what are the other fish in your tank.. It would have helped in guessing the awnswer for your question. bettas are semi-aggressive when they are alone or in a less numer than required to form a group. It may act like a fin-nipper. If, you feel that may be the problem, adding more betta to your tank will answer it. But, think about the overstocking before you do that.

    1. There must be atleast 3 females and the more the better. This gives them the chance to establish their pecking order. The more female bettas, the more the agression is spread around while the pecking order is being established. If there are only 2 female bettas, they will constantly be fighting for dominance and wont ever be able to form a pecking order. once the surority of female bettas establishes the pecking order and there is a dominant alpha female, she will keep all of them in line so there can be peace

    2. They need space, just because they tolerate each other doesnt meant they are not territorial. You can keep 4 or 5 female bettas in a 10gal.

A reflection or a mirror has them attacking as well.
