Is the 2006 Mazda Mx-5 Miata a girly car?

Those who say it's a girls car generally fall into one of two groups:

1. They're ignorant of the racing heritage (it's the SCCA's most frequently raced car) and success of the car and have no idea how hard it corners and how quick it is on a road course.

2. They have an innate need to stir up trouble just for the sake of stirring up trouble, generally a sign of a self image problem they're trying to make up for.

When someone makes this assertion the natural question is which of these two categories are they in?

P.S. Another thing to think about, there are some girls who are competition drivers and can out drive 99% of guys. What does this fact do to the stereotypical definition of a girls car?

who gives a **** what other people say i drive an mx 5 admittedly its mainly my girlfriends car since i decided too see what would win in a head on collision my lotus or a transit van safe to say i don't have a my own car anymore i need to share it with the missus but i too hear all the its a girls and hairdressers car but usually the guys who say this are all self conscious twats with little todgers the mx5 is loads of fun and handle great id paint mine pink and still drive it id have an mx5 over a mustang or one of those monstrosities like the v8 dodge ram whats the point of having a car with a big engine that's not really that power full when you consider the size of engine and dont handle very well whats the point of going fast in a straight line when you can hammer it round the twisties in a mx5

Just take a drive to any road race course or autocross in your area and see what's out on the track.

The MX5 Miata has been one the best road race/autocross cars in it's class for 20 years. It's handling is superb and it has a great power-to-weight ratio. Aftermarket support is awesome.

...and if some of the panzy-a$$ posers here or on TV want to call it a girlie car, I'm sure some of the real men who race cars will be happy to take them out back to some secluded spot near the racetrack to "adjust" their opinion...

If it wears a bra is is a girlie car.

If it wears a jock strap it is a boy car.

To truly enjoy a Miata takes an adult, either gender will do.

I think it is a shame to classify the driver by the car.

Now around where we live, it doesn't matter if it is my wife or myself driving. Those driving macho machines don't mess with Little Blue, or the Junk Yard Kitten.

How can a pure sports car with perfect weight distribution, RWD, amazing handling, and great looks be a girly car?

Hate to say it, but he is right. Any Miata is a girl's car, anytime I see one; 95% of the time it is being driven by a girl. You might want to sup it up a bit, and add some features that make it more of a male car.

i have one and don't have aa bra on my car or in my dresser i'm a 45 year old guy and my girlfriend loves to drive my 4wd 350 cid avalanche she says it is easier to battle for a parking space than the miata

don't listen to em... back in the 70's and 80's the camaro was always a "girly" car... The firebird/trans-am was the man's car... who cares... its your car... they are quick little roadsters and fun. I'd take one any day of the week. enjoy.

Definitely a girl car dude! Sorry man, even though it ranks high, drives well, and can even perform decently, STILL A GIRL CAR. Good Luck!
