Is anyone else with me on this?
Here is a list of questions I would like to see permanently banned from the Cooking & Recipes section of Food & Drink:
1) Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
2) What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
3) How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
4) What should I make for dinner (or breakfast, or lunch, or snack time)? [How would anyone else know the answer to this question?]
They are a waste of time and bandwidth. They may have been funny the first time they were posted, but by the twenty- or thirty-thousandth time, the humor escapes me.
Whenever I read one of these questions, I shall insert a line of z's, to indicate A) My boredom with reading the same un-funny question over and over again: and B) My desire to physically remove the question from this forum, like a buzz saw cutting a rotten branch off of a tree.
Is anyone else with me on this, or am I over-reacting?
tabitha, the question DOES pertain to the quality of this forum, much more than those questions listed pertain to COOKING AND RECIPES.
I just found another one, "What's your favorite food?" How does THAT pertain to cooking and recipes? It belongs in POLLS.
Hey, Huxley, get off of my lawn, you kids!
horsey-chik794...Sure, I'm all for having fun, but how about interspersing a little creativity and wit into the process. Honestly, how much fun is, "How many licks does it take..." after you've read it a dozen or so times. Isn't the purpose of this forum to amuse one another AND exchange information? I'm sure "Why did the chicken cross the road...?" was funny to you WHEN YOU WERE FOUR! But now that you're all grown up doesn't your mind crave something a little more creative?
LooBy.♥...do you really find those questions funny? What a drab and immature life you must lead.

Yes. I totally agree.
I also think that questions that are vague and pointless should be banned. Such as follows:
What do you like to eat for breakfast?
Honestly, do you really think you're going to get the ultimate answer from this question?
Which is better Coke or Pepsi?
Some people like Coke, some like Pepsi. A million answers, some say Coke, some say Pepsi. How do you decide who is right on this one? Hey, there's another question, lol!
Does anyone have any Coca-Cola Rewards Points?
Yes, and let me mail them to you so you can get my stuff you jerk.
Have you ever...?
Drank Coke, ate a pizza, smoked a cigar, what do you want to know? This question should be banned because it's a cheap ploy to get people to look at your question.
Any question that involves some lazy kid trying to get his homework done at the last second should also be banned.
Any question that asks, "What is the best flavor of ice cream?".
Lastly, people should be REQUIRED to learn how to use spell-check, grammar-check, and then PROOFREAD their questions and answers.
The dumbing down of America is upon us...lol!
I'm with you man!
I just read the previous answer to your question and I about spit my drink out. OmG, watt shud I dew? LOL!
Finally, and I do mean finally this time, to the one who said "you're wasting your time because this doesn't pertain to cooking" is flat out wrong. Your question DOES pertain to this topic because the questions you mentioned that consistently get asked always show up under this topic! There should be a button that alerts Yahoo! to repetitive questions.
Alright, to the one who said, "we're not running the country". You just proved his entire question! The sad fact is that your generation will be running the country someday. I can see our future leader now...texting another world leader..."Hey wen kan we meat up, it was gr8 takin 2 u, ok cul8r at the UN meetings". OmG! LOL...OK I AM DONE!

Interestingly, Huxley once asked the Dogs forum how to stop her noisy, annoying dogs from being so noisy and annoying!
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=As2a2...
The Dogs forum is full of bandwidth questions, too, Mr. Grummp...
"What should I name my dog?"
"Is my puppy cute (pics!!)?"
"How many dogs do you have, and what breeds are they?"
"Does anyone else have a Maltese...?"
"How can I convince my parents to let me have a dog?"
And, of course, the hilarious
"Who let the dogs out?"
"What do you get when you cross a Bulldog with a Shitzu [sic]?"
Edit: Come on, Sarah. I find it amazing that she can see why her noisy little dogs are annoying, but she can't see why excessively noisy little teenagers are annoying.
Another edit: I hate to have to tell you this, Mr. Grummp, but a lot of them DON'T crave something more creative than the stale old jokes that were funny when they were four. Furthermore, EVERYONE'S a comedian. For some reason, loads of people who have no sense of the incongruous or the ludicrous, at all, nevertheless feel compelled to try their hand at comedy. And then they get their feelings hurt when one isn't amused by their lame jokes. Blech. Last time I checked, this was a free country where we could decide for ourselves what was really funny.

Haha, now who actually read all of this? I answer alot of those types of questions in Polls&Surveys but, come on! Lighten up! Whats a few fun, silly questions in this section! But, I must admit...you have a point they do belong in Polls&Surveys...but accidentally they can be put into this section just because they talk about food...maybe someone didnt check to see if it was in the right section? People make mistakes.
Oh, man...you know people are gonna start asking those questions just to annoy you! ;)
Socion: What the hell...I thought you were more mature than this?? What does this have to do with the dog section and that some girls dogs bark? Who cares!!?!?! I'm willing to admit my dog isnt perfect. Nobody on this section cares about the dog section...just like the dog section dosent care about the food and drink section.

So hey Mr.G, if you have such a problem with these questions and the humor has escaped your old body why don't you get the hell off Yahoo! Answers since nobody wants to waste their time on you?

...Internet. Serious cooking business.
Why are you concerned with yahoo's bandwidth? And yes. People repeat themselves a lot.
Have you not been paying attention to the human race or something?
- 1 decade ago
I agree but you are wasting time and bandwidth too by asking a question that doesnt even pretain to cooking.
