It sounds like you're a very hard working and intelligent person. Definitely go into Algebra because the worst thing that can happen is that you'll end up taking it again in 8th grade which is still ahead of when most people take Algebra. Trust me, all Algebra does is generalize Arithmetic, or in other words uses variables (letters) instead of numbers. Once you make that connection it's a piece of cake!

Take Pre-Algebra and if it is too easy then move to Algebra. But by taking pre-algebra now and algebra in 8th, then this lines you up for Geometry in 9th followed by algegra 2 or trig and maybe pre-calculus by junior year. This lands you in Calculus Senior year which can be a harder math. The best plan is to learn your math, very well and do well on your states tests. You might even be able to get credit in college.
Best of Luck.

Yes I would. Remember to ask if the Algebra will be counted on your high school transcript. If you don't get an A or atleast B you may not want it to count toward your high school GPA. Both my son's took algebra in 7th grade and both got A's so we didn't have to make any decisions. Usually your 6th grade teacher will advise you.

Why not Algebra? Challenge yourself a bit and get yourself started on the path to calculus, therein lies true mathematics!

Ya, I would go for it. If you like challenges, it's worth it. You will be ahead in math in high school if you go for it & do a good job, and that will give you an advantage with college admissions.

it's better if you go into pre alg in 7th grade then algebra in 8th grade. that's what i did and it was a nice transition. then i went into the sophomore math class when i was a freshman. so go into the pre alg
