Question - My Puppy Is In Heat ?
This morning my 9 month old puppy went to pee and we saw a bit of discoloration with red in it. We also saw like drops of red around the house so she is obviously in heat.
My question is .. Why isn't it really heavy? (why isn't there a lot of blood)
Also we got her diapers but how long do I keep them on until I put another one on? (it doesn't say on the directions)
and how long is she going to be in heat?
when will she be in heat again?
PLEASE DON'T START YELLING , I'M DOING MY VERY BEST , AND SHE IS GOING TO BE SPAYED.

It will get heavier - if she is going to be spayed now would be a great time to do it then you don't have to worry about keeping the diapers on. If you have a male dog around - a diaper is not going to stop an accidental breeding.
If you are looking to contain the messy - expect 2 weeks of red and 1 week or more of clearer discharge (when she is most fertile) then you might get more red discharge - plan on 3 -4 weeks.

Yea, that is a good idea that you have a diaper on her for now, and thats very good that you are getting her spayed. My neighbor did that and they would change her diaper after a little while and put a different one on there, and wash the other one. I can't remember how long a dog is in heat for, go to PetPeoplesPlace.com it has lots of thing about animals on there, just click no ask the experts and it will have a bunch of answers to peoples questions.

The heat cycle lasts about 21 days.
The bleeding isn't like a woman's flow and aren't normally very "heavy"-more like spotting and every dog is different. (usually the first heat is "silent"-people don't notice or very light!) Some dogs just keep themselves extremely clean as well.
As far as the diapers- I'd change them every couple of hours or as you feel necessary.
And most dogs go into heat every 6-11 months- so about twice a year.

There is not heavy bleeding, of course more with a larger breed dog. Mainly spotting. Change the diapers when they are wet or dirty, just like with a baby. They are in heat about 21 days and come in heat about every 6-8 months. It would be wise to have her spayed before her next heat.

Dogs don't get "heavy flows". With the diapers you can keep it on until she needs to go outside or until you think it needs to be changed. All dogs have different heat periods. Most dogs are in heat 4 times a year, but it depeands on the dog with how long it will last and how many she will get. Wish you well.

My cat has just gone in heat. Don't worry, she will be just fine. Change her diaper whenever it's wet, like a baby. Usually, animals go in heat for 3 weeks. She will be in heat again next month. I hope this helps, and best of luck. It's good to get her spayed, like you're doing. It helps reduce the risk of her getting pregnant and breast cancer. It's wise to get her spayed before she goes in heat again.

At thje time of your puppies 1st and 2d warmth cycle she continues to be turning out to be and if she have been to grow to be pregnant the nutrition that she desires to maintain her very own growth and maintainance could be going to her domestic canines. it could desire to stunt her growth besides as make for a confusing transport. think of of it in terms of persons... in basic terms because of the fact a woman starts off her menstral cycle on the age of 12 does not propose this is healthful for her to get pregnant. supply your lab a while to mature and then while you're fairly set on breeding her communicate on your vet (or your brother) and communicate approximately all the opportunities of problems.

Not every dog is the same. Secondly she may be keeping herself relatively clean.
