Why do so many men(mainly black men) prefer light skinned girls?
Okay so I am wondering, WHY do so many men prefer to be with a light skinned woman then dark skinned? What is it? Do darker women disgust you? Do they not smell as nice? Are the bitchy? (I think it's more light skinned girls that r bitchy than dark (no offense).
I once asked my guy what would he prefer( I know he prefers light or tanned) I said if he had to choose a girl from one whos complexion is light like a sugar cookie, and a girl who is dark like a chocolate chip in a chips ahoy cookie.I told him to be completely honest. He said he'd prefer the sugar cookie. Then I gave him the choice to choose between the sugar cookie, the chocolate chip, and the cookie surrounding the chocolate chip. he said he'd prefer the cookie surrounding the chip.
Then at school recently, I asked two of my guy friends (both black) do they prefer lighter skinned or darker skinned girls. They didn't hesitate to say they preferred light skinned. I asked them why, and they said "Cause, light skinned girls are just fine!...they just got the pretty hair, and they dont never gotta put on lotion, they got nice lips and pretty feet and hands...Dark skinned girls be just, nappy and ashy and...I just wouldnt prefer to be with a dark skinned girl."
Some prefer light skinned girls cuz that's all that's available (if they r black but live in areas that are dominantly white(like suburban Michigan for example).
Some are prejudice and dont like dark skinned females cuz they honestly do think they are attractive...
Some say dark skinned black girls bring to much drama....
I have also noticed that many darker girls are attracted to lighter guys, and lighter guys to darker girls...I am not dark skinned nor do I consider myself light, and I attracted guys of all colors, but I am just making a general statement based on observations.
I mainly want men to answer this, but anyone is free to. Also if I am wrong about this preference I've noticed, just say so, no one is meant to be left out of this topic. I know I am generalizing btw, but this seems FACT to me, and this topic is almost always ignored, and next thing you know, dark skinned girls are bleaching their skin because they feel unworthy, and like they are not beautiful because their skin isnt light...
um, hell yeah I actually HEAR ppl say they prefer lighter girls. Did u not read the details of my question where u will see that I said two of my male friends SAID they preferred light skinned girls? And my own guy prefers tanned girls?...I also saw it on an episode of Tyra Banks. This isnt all in my head, I SAID it's observation, and plenty of guys I've seen have said it. As long as you ppl keep saying things like how you are, this will continue to be ignored, and people will continue to hate themselves.

Most black men prefer light skin women because they think the lighter the better (prettier, good hair, pretty eyes). Some men i know prefer light skin women because when they have kids they want their kids to come out light skin. The society we live in makes ppl ( men ) think the lighter the girl the cuter she is. for example in rap videos the main girl (9 out of 10) is allways lite skin. But this isnt something that jus started. Back then the lighter you were, the better you were treated. It sad that most black men only see light skin women as their only option, but true.

The ones that are saying that dark skin girls are always ashy, have nappy hair, or whatever are insecure. Do they not know that they're talking about themselves? So f****** stupid! Anyway, It's not just darknskin men going after lighter skin women, lighter skin and white women like our men to, so it's like 50/50. But I do agree that it's more of a self hatred issue. I know PLENTY dark skin men that would pick the light skin over the dark and brown. Most of them are not that pretty anyway. Picking someone for their complexion is a big insecurity problem. I'm not dark nor light. I'm a brownish red, and I like my men DARK.

Opposites attract ? I do notice this a lot too. I'm a dark skinned black male and though I am attracted to both light and darkskin black girls, light skin black girls tend to like me more. Darkskin black girls a lot of times like the lighter skin black men, even though a lot do find darker skin ones attractive too. But what I can't stand is how people make darkskin black women seem unattractive when they are not. A lot of them are very beautiful and sexy and sometimes I feel like I'm the only black male who sees this because a lot of the other black guys I know favor light skin or white girls over them. SMH.

Majority of black men or people in general, consider light skins and sometimes even brown skins to be "the better" ones. Dark skinned girls are labeled as ghetto, loud, no class, nappy headed, "dirty", uneducated, drama filled, etc.
While light skins are considered more beautiful, intelligent, good personality, classy, and natural. Basically they re more respected in this world.
If you put up a picture between a light skin and a dark skin, I can bet 90% of people would choose the light skinned gal.

I m a black male. I try to go for black women my that are my skin tone but I get shot down too often. I think I just pick the wrong ones. But light skin girls, white girls, and Asian girl are ALWAYS willing to give me the time of day. So, I m just starting to over look darker women unless I feel like I m thugginnn

Its almost as though light is seen as more feminine and dark is seen as more masculine to a degree. I've rarely heard a black man say a light skinned girl looked like a man, but i've often heard it said about dark skinned women. If you want the answer, id say it's a mixture of three things. Tv brainwashing, the epitomy of beauty is expressed as either white or lightskinned, unless it's naomi campbell, or Tyra Banks, slavery where there was the house slave and the field slave were always the darker ones, and of course sometimes it's just the need for contrast, to experience someone different, and gain a different perspective.
