Tax refund differs from accepted amount...?
I received my tax refund direct deposit, but it's short almost $600 from the amount the IRS accepted. To give you some details-- I filed myself using TaxAct.com, paid the filing fee ($9.95) on my credit card. I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if you know why this has happened?
I only received $300 from the stimulus package last year.

You must be earing too much that the government wants to redistribute your earings over more people who make less.

Did the software try to claim the recovery rebate credit for $600 even though you already received that money as part of the stimulus payments last year? Several tax software programs had glitches this year when dealing with the stimulus payments and recovery rebate credit. The glitches have been updated, but if you filed before the update was released, or you never updated your version of the software, then its possible that your return was wrong and the IRS corrected it.
