Though I loved Gran Torino, I cannot argue that it wasn't nominated for any awards. Sure, I was surprised that it completely got shut out... but that was simply because Clint Eastwood was behind the film. He was the entire movie. The Hmong actors weren't good at all and the screenplay felt a bit forced and cliche, even during its "shocking" conclusion.
But there's a lot of love in the Academy for Clint Eastwood and I'm surprised Gran Torino didn't get acknowledged. Maybe because Eastwood had two films out this year: Changeling and Gran Torino... his supporters split their votes that resulted with neither film having a major splash at the Oscars. Just a thought.

Oh the oscars is stupid. Who cares what those stuffy pompous goons at the academy think? If you look at AFI's top 100 movies you'll turn over in your grave, because you'll have committed suicide. Just ignore the oscars, you can almost predict every single award. For example I predicted that in the editing categories they would give one to Benjamin Button, one to Slum dog and one to The Dark Knight.

Yes
The Oscars has always been about the best movie, or most popula.r
Which is the reason why Bullsh*t Millionaire took most of the awards.

I personally think Mickey Rourke got robbed. I am a big Sean Penn fan, but yeah, its political alright.
