They have to be kept clean, dry and warm until they start feathering. I always used a heat lamp for heat. You can tell if they are cold, they will huddle together. Keeping the water clean is a challenge but has to be done. Bedding needs to be changed often also. You can expect a few not to make it. In the old days it was as high as 25% but nowadays it is a lot better than that. I have had batches of fifty without any dying. Get a good heat lamp, a container large enough for them, a water container and a food container. I used pine wood chips for bedding and than put it around plants when I changed it. They are messy, smell bad and take some care.

Chicks are really messy but they're very easy to care for, just be sure to keep feed and water where they can get to it all the time. You can actually start them out on cornmeal, but you'll find they'll fare just fine almost from day one if you just give them the freedom of a yard or field. Otherwise you'll need to change to cracked corn at about two weeks. Try to avoid the commercial feeds, it contains stuff they wouldn't normally find in their natural environment.

Uh, why? You're going to have chickens. Chickens poop and peck. Do you have a farm? Have you seen the movie Wizard of Oz? That's about all I know about baby chickens. You have to keep them warm and fed and fresh clean water bottles or bowls (I don't know), and then when they get a little older separate them if they fight or get sick (they'll attack the weak ones, I've seen them do that at a fair once).
