First check whether your mic is working properly in your system, go to control panel and choose the sound and audio devices try calibrating the mic. And if its working fine make sure you haven't muted your mic in the system.

If the mic in your laptop works fine then go to yahoo messenger and go to tools and click on the audio devices menu where you can calibrate your mic and speaker in the yahoo messenger.

Voice chat is done using the call button from the conversation window.

The vista one looks better and has some cool valuable factors, yet to flow into chat rooms you will could use the primary version.

Probably you may have installed Indian version on Y! Messenger which doesn't support voice chat.

Browse messenger.yahoo.com and download the US version
