What do you think are the effects of the "Repression?"?

I am doing a project in English and my group chose Economy as our topic and Unemployment as our subtopic, I have to research the international,national, and local effects of the "Repression"and other unemploying things. please help me!!

    repression? not an economic term.

    recession. google it in its news section.

    depression - a dirty thirties word that does not apply here.
