I need help with my potato salad!?
I screwed up 2 times with the same potato salad. First, there is way too much salt and then I got carried away with my jalapenos. It tastes like spicy hot salt. I don't want to add any more potatoes because I don't want to eat it for a week. Is there anything else I can do?
okay, we like spicy food, just not as spicy as I ACCIDENTLY made the salad. And I always add salt and black pepper to my potato salad among other things. I'm gonna try rinsing it and see where it gets me.

maybe you could rinse everything off the potatoes and start over.

I've rinsed off potato salad successfully. A person brought it to a barbeque I was having and it was just nasty. I put the potato salad is a spaghetti strainer and shook it like crazy till most of the dressing was off and then made my own dressing. Try that, but when you make the dressing leave out the salt and jalepenos because those flavors will probably still be there.

Uh, why did you add jalapenos to potato salad? If you have a sieve then you can push the potatoes through it and the jalapenos will not go through.
Try adding a bit of milk to offset the salt.

Potato Salad will go bad before a week if you have mayo and eggs in it
Making it a week in advance is not a good idea. why not rinse to potatoes and wait till closer to the time you want to eat it to put the dressing on it.

I'd actually rinse it off and go from there...and I wouldn't be adding jalapenos to potato salad.

Im afraid youre sunk.
Once potatoes are cooked, there is no way to reduce the salt you threw in. Further, unless you stand there with tweezers and remove the bits of jalepeno, you can't undo that part either.
It is what it is - serve it or throw it out. Learn from this.

a bit of sour cream or double cream.
don't add mayo that is salty, if it's not salty, you can add...
maybe balsamic vinegar.
