President I should write persuasive essay to about slavery?
In class, we're doing an open genre writing task. We can write about anything related to the Civil War. My idea was that I could write a persuasive essay to a president or something to oppose slavery. Yes, i realize that they were later on freed, but i thought it'd be a powerful, easy thing to write about. But i have no clue who i should write the letter to. I was thinking Abraham Lincoln, but i don't know. Any ideas?

Yes Abraham Lincoln would probably be the best president to write to since he was the one who freed the slaves, but if you know a lot about a president before then it could be a good idea to write to them considering Lincoln was already for freeing the slaves.
