I have bad period symptoms, but no period....?

I am 110% not pregnant but am late by a week. Last night I had to wake up and take some pain relief for cramping and a massive headache, but still no period. I also feel sick and achy all over. Any insight?

It is possible that you have PCOS. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It is kinda like having Diabetes. Your sugar levels a slightly high. This causes a build up of fatty deposits around the ovaries which in turn makes it hard for the eggs to leave the ovary. The egg then opens in the ovary causing cysts. I beleive these are called follicles. The body then starts changing the homone production to try to force the eggs out. And then you get side effects like excess hair, loss of hair, acne, loss or painful periods...etc. The good news is there are treatments and ways to stop it getting worse.

The first step is to see your doctor and ask to be tested for PCOS. A simple blood test can check if your homone levels are normal or not. Approx 10% of women of reproductive age get PCOS. The earlier you are diagnosed the better.

Some of these symptoms such as the being late by a week could be an indication that you are stressed about something (an example only).

I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they say.
