Question about company behaviour?

My husband works for a company currently looking into redundancies. As part of that process, members of staff were invited to ask any questions that they felt needed answering about the process. One question involved why management weren't up for any potential redundancies, as one member of the team appeared to be under performing. The reply, by email, was 'Don't be an idiot'. Surely the management team have a responsibility to be professional? BTW, it wasn't my husbands question ;)

Being "professional merely means that one is qualified to teach or profess in a given subject area.

What is being professed when one responds with 'Don't be an idiot', is the real question. The questioner tells more about him/herself and possibly the company.

Now your husband knows the quality of individuals within the company.
