What specs should I consider when buying a laptop?

I want to buy a Dell Inspiron 15.4" laptop, which I will use to download music, watch movies, and for basic academic applications (Microsoft Word, etc.). I am wondering what I should be looking for in terms of the processor, hard drive, and memory. I am also open to suggestions for other laptop brands or models. Thanks!

you need hard drive space to store your music and movies.

250 gigs is good for a laptop. 360 gigs is also good, but a little harder to find.

ram is also important. 4 gigs is really good for running everything fast. 2 gigs will be sufficient for everything you need.

processor is really cost dependent. the best so far is an intel core 2 duo processor, but for the price of a laptop with one in it, you could get a desktop with much more power. its really just cost-dependant.

dell is a good brand name for laptops.
