live oak help will not grow please help?

i live in south texas and built a house 4 years ago well they put a live oak in the front yard and for some reason it has not grown it drops it leave in the winter when everybody elses doesn't and has stayed the same heigth for the past 2 years i know its not diseases and theyre are no insects on it anybody know what it could be?

    If your tree is deciduous and loses its leaves in the winter, most likely you have a different variety of oak. There are some varieties of oak that are evergreen, but many types also shed their leaves in the fall. Take one of the leaves to a nurseryman and he should be able to tell you for sure if its a live oak-because even some of the leaves look somewhat similar. I have three different types of oak in my yard, but only one is evergreen.

    Live oaks are Evergreen and Do Not drop their leaves. You were misled about the name of the tree in your yard. Suggest you contact the landscaper that planted it for correct ID.

    Oaks are one of the slowest growing trees.

    That's why the wood is so dense.

    Give it some time.

    Mine shed its leaves every year too..
