Does anyone have experience knitting with chenille?

I have been knitting for decades but have never knit with chenille. My niece is getting married in May and I want to knit her an afghan with chenille. Does anyone have any pattern suggestions? The yarn is worsted weight and I want to use a single strand.

Chenille needs to be knit firmly on smaller needles than you might think because it has a tendency to *worm* or pull pigtails of yarn out of the knitting. Depending on the quality of the yarn it way very well shed or pull out of the binder threads making bald spots. You'll be better off for an afghan with a different yarn.

I don't care for chenille. It streches too much and snags easily. Why not get a nice washable yarn?
