What type of snowboard should I rent?

So, I'm gonna go to Breckenridge for a few days to snowboard.

My brother has snowboarded 5 or 6 times and when he goes, he usually rents a Burton. I, on the other hand, have never boarded before. Renting what they call a "beginners board" is $27 dollars a day and renting a Burton is $32 a day. My brother is making reservations and he is asking me which one I want. He said that he has previously used a board that was not a Burton and it sucked because it wasn't as flexible, but he's not sure what the quality of a "beginners board" is.

Can someone advise me on which one to choose? Is it worth spending a little extra money for a better ride even if you are a beginner?

You're a beginner, unless you're going to be doing stuff in the park you don't need flexability. The quality of the beginners board will be good enough for a beginner to ride.

Get the "beginners board". With what you will be learning this will be the best option for you.

You will only be doing the basics for the first while and do not need a "performance board" (which is what they call them at my local mountain).

When you get more advanced you may want the other option but for now, save some money and just have some fun.

Its all preference. I like my board to be stiffer because i can go faster and have a smoother ride in sloppy terrain. However i usually dont spend alot of time in the park which is where a flexible "wet noodle" board is good to have.

I personally dont really like burton either... theyre guilded. beginner boards usually refer to the technology used in them and most companies make most of their boards to specific ability levels. here are some examples

    Beginner: Morrow, Rossignol

    2nd tier: Burton, Ride

    Top tier: GNU, Forum

but really a board is just prefernce to what you like.

there are a number of distinctive manufacturers of bindings yet i think of what they are relating is even though in case you will choose step-in bindings (those you click into) or strap-in. maximum individuals on the mountain journey strap-in. The step-in can get ice caught in it and it makes it a soreness to get your boots clicked in. on your first time snowboarding, it is not considerable a great purchase. the determination will remember extra once you purchase your board & bindings. solid success and be constructive to furnish it better than sooner or later. you're turning out to be a much better time your 2nd and third days on the hill.
