  • Where do locals buy lift tickets?

I went to Breckenridge last March and paid like $90+ for each lift ticket (rip off). I went to Park City last month and paid about $50 by getting them from Costco in advance.

You locals are on the slopes all the time. I imagine there is no way you are paying as much as the tourists are. Got any advice on where to get cheap lift tickets for my future snowboarding vacations?

I don't have a specific destination in mind for my next trip, but I'd like any advice you can give on the subject.

I'll pick a best answer, as long as there is one.

  • 1998 Camry Car Alarm Activates When Changing the Battery?

When changing the battery on my car, a 1998 Toyota Camry, the anti-theft system activates and prevents the car from starting. Since I have dealt with this problem before, I know that there is a series of steps that must be performed with the Key and the red valet button under the dash. My problem is, I don't know what the exact order of these steps is. If anyone knows, it would help a lot.

To clarify, I want to know every single step that needs to be taken from the time you open the hood to remove the old battery to the time when you are able to restart the car with the new battery in place.

The following questions are of particular importance:

-Should the valet switch be OUT or IN when the old battery is removed?

-Should the key be in the ignition each time the valet switch is activated/deactivated?

-What position in the ignition should the key be in when the valet button is pushed?

-What should be the position of the valet switch during daily driving?

    You get the picture...

  • Different types of police officers and their duties?

I have always wondered this but have never really figured it out: What are the different types of police officers and what are their main duties?

For example, when I am driving on the road, I see Constables, Sheriffs, city police, and State Troopers. If someone could please cover what the duties are of each of these types of officers, I would appreciate it. Also, if you can think of anymore that I missed, please include those too.

Furthermore, which of those listed above (or any that I missed) are primarily responsible for enforcing traffic laws?

Thanks. I will give the best answer to the most helpful person.

  • What is wrong with my car?

Car: 1998 Toyota Camry LE V6

My check engine light flashes while I'm driving and my car shakes at very low speeds (< 5 mph). Once I speed up, the car drives normally. It's going to cost me almost $100 to get it diagnosed, however I think it might be the spark plugs. In my car though, it's laborious to get to the spark plugs and I don't have the know how.

Does anyone have an idea as to what may be wrong with my car?

I will give a best answer to the most helpful person.

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Can a goalkeeper use his hands in this situation?

I've been an Intramural Soccer goalkeeper for a few years, and I have never been in this situation, but I would like to know what is allowed.

Ok, so I know that I can't use my hands if my teammate passes the ball back to me. However, I can use my hands if he heads it back to me.

So, what about in this situation:

My defender tries to clear the ball with his feet while the ball is flying through the air, but he strikes it incorrectly and it goes backwards over his head toward me and the goal. Can I pick up the ball since it was technically not a pass back?

What if there is an imminent threat of the other team's striker getting the ball right as I do? Then, can I pick up the ball before he gets a shot on goal?

Please answer both questions, and only answer if you know the answer.

    Thanks.

  • Spanish speakers translate this line please?

This is from the song Scandalous by Cuban Link ft. Don Omar:

Y le temo a pensar que me puede matar el no

verla aquí. Jamas podre aguantar el que

si ella se va tenga que morir. Tenga que morir.

Honestly, I've taken a bunch of Spanish classes in the past, and I could translate it if I really tried, but I don't want to try.

    I appreciate it.

  • What type of snowboard should I rent?

So, I'm gonna go to Breckenridge for a few days to snowboard.

My brother has snowboarded 5 or 6 times and when he goes, he usually rents a Burton. I, on the other hand, have never boarded before. Renting what they call a "beginners board" is $27 dollars a day and renting a Burton is $32 a day. My brother is making reservations and he is asking me which one I want. He said that he has previously used a board that was not a Burton and it sucked because it wasn't as flexible, but he's not sure what the quality of a "beginners board" is.

Can someone advise me on which one to choose? Is it worth spending a little extra money for a better ride even if you are a beginner?

  • How do I find out which broker is offering shares of an IPO?

I've been reading about Mead Johnson, and I'm curious: How does an investor go about finding out which broker is offering shares of an IPO?

I realize that some serious money that I (as a 20 year old investor with only 13 or 14 grand) personally don't have would be needed to actually get in on something like this. However, my family does, so it doesn't take the opportunity out of the picture for me to invest through them.

Just trying to learn a little bit here. Thanks.

  • When writing a name as "last name, first name", where do you put the title, "Dr."?

I'm trying to put together a quick list of individuals for something in the format of "Last name, first name." If one person has a doctorate, where do you put the "Dr." when making a list in this format?

  • Simple chemistry reaction question?

I was doing an MCAT practice test and I got this question right, but I don't know the exact reaction behind it, so it was more or less of a guess.

    In simple terms:

What gas evolves when you mix HCl with CO3^2- ?

I guessed CO2 and got it right, but I would like to know what exactly happens between a strong acid like HCl and a base like carbonate ion which leads to CO2 being produced. What is the exact reaction with all products?

    Thanks.

  • How do I make my MacBook Pro run faster? Would a defrag help?

I've had my MBP for about 15 months now. Obviously, over time, computers run a little slower then they did when they were brand new, and I understand that.

My question is, would a defrag help it run a little bit faster or is it a hopeless effort? Are there any other ways to make this computer run like the beast it once was?

    What do you think?

You'll get the best answer if you actually give me useful information and a source.

    Thanks.

  • Quick question for MLS fans/soccer fans/Spanish speakers?

I'm a Houston Dynamo fan by the way.

I just have a question about goal kicks when we attend games.

Whenever the opposing team's goalkeeper does a goal kick, all the fans yell: "Ohhhhhh...puto!" Now, as I understand it, puto means either homosexual or b***h or something along those lines.

My question is: Is that what it means in this context, or does it mean something different?

    Thanks.

  • If you could take 6 months off from your normal life what would you pursue?

I want a few more answers to this question I asked:

As stated, if you could take 6 months off from your busy life and could put yourself first (as in no major obligations or responsibilities), what would you do? I'm looking for a goal. As in, if you could devote your life for 6 months to achieving something, what would it be?

Personally, I'm a fairly intelligent college junior bound for med school. But, I've been remixing music for a year or two, and if I was given that time, I'd put in the the type effort I do for academics to become a full-fledged DJ.

    What would you do?

    Inspire me.

To give you an idea of why I'm asking, at this moment, I am writing a Medical Ethics paper and listening to DJ Tiesto.

I don't need a definition. I know what a wingman is. I just want to know specifically what kinds of things you can realistically say to play a friend up without making it look obvious that you're winging. What do you guys do?

    Anecdotes and hypotheticals are appreciated.
