What has anybody to lose by being the first to try? ;)

You can't look God in the eye, how can you acknowledge his existense?

Eyes contact is for friends, mates, and enemies. You see a hot chick you catch eyes (if they are dilated she may be interested). You see your friend you catch eyes. You see your enemies and you look so hard you try to stare through them. Also a sign of dominance in some situations; who ever adverts their eyes first is lower.

Source(s): I just made all that up off the top of my head but it is probably true.. maybe

I don't but I notice many people do. Perhaps it's the fear that the other person will "see" their real intentions that causes people to avoid eye contact.

It is hard sometimes. It is hard for me to look people in the eyes. Since I am a waitress, it is expected behavior and I sometimes have to remind myself to. It really is more this life time than any of my other lifetimes.

It probably goes back to the primordial shame as a result of Original Sin.

"I'm not. I try to make eye contact with almost every person I walk by. and if they make eye contact with me, I'll speak to them. it kinda makes me laugh cus I sometimes make people uncomfortable by looking at them like that"
