What Year Did The Blue Ball Cap Become Part Of The Navy Work Uniform?

It was during the time that Admiral Zumwalt was CNO. That would have been between 1970 and 1974. I got the blue pull-over, dungaree pants and blue ball cap in 1974 at Great Lakes. I also got the Officer/Chief style dress blues.

I went in 1976, we had ball caps that were "Navy Blue", meaning they were coal black.

I think it was around 1980 that we shifted to blue caps with the ship's name stitched on front.
