Moving to Salt Lake City Area-good areas/bad areas?

Sandy itself is a good place to live. It is a little more expensive to live on the East side. The west side is less expensive. As far as rough neighborhoods, Kerns, rosepark and the industrial area around 3300 South at I-15 are (in my opinion) worth avoiding. I work in Sandy but live in Layton. It's about 40-45 min drive if there isn't any traffic.

There are LDS wards everywhere but that doesn't mean you have to be a member of the ward. Every neighborhood has non members in them. It would be very hard to find a neighborhood with only Mormons in it. Only the very uninformed think Utah is only Mormons and they try to convert you all the time. Actually Mormons make very good neighbors. You might want to try Bluffdale (the point of the mountain) that is where the prison is. I doubt there are many Mormons there. I have lived in Utah over 40 years so I know what I am talking about.

Salt lake city is all safe so do not worry about it, Salt Lake City is one of the safest cities in america.

You'll be fine. Not only is SLC a safe city, they have a very high number of mental health facilities also. It really helps to be Morman to live there.
