Why are people younger than 40 rude (are they controlled by brainwashing)?. Mature people seem less PC.?
Is the 'Establishment' waiting for us coffin dodgers to die so that they will be able to control the then population easier. The younger people among us do not realise that life was better 60 years ago although we didn't have the material thing so important now. (We didn't need 'em)

Life was better? I don't think so. I'll take today's progressive era over Jim Crow any day of the week.

Well I think it is quite rude to make sweeping statements about a whole generation. I'm under 40 and I am not rude in the slightest. I am fed up with the media dictating to me how I should live my life and the excesses of modern life. It is exasperating and stifling and what is even worse is when some members of the older generation such as yourself I presume just make you feel worse by casting you into some kind of social net and blaming you for the way the world is today. I think it is a little more complex than that. I also have to suffer abuse on a weekly basis where I work and many of the clientele are older. I am patronised and scowled at but you know what, some of the people are so nice so I would rather not act immaturely about it by engaging in some kind of childish tit for tat game.

I actually find older people extremely rude. I try to be nice to everyone and I remember always having rude people middle age and up talking down to me at every part-time job I've ever had, no matter how polite I was. I agree that life was probably much better back then and I've often wanted to live in that time, but then again, it's not my generations fault. There's no reason to scream at an 18 year old girl who is making minimum wage trying to get through college about the prices of milk and the economy. (Just my experience watching older people.)

You learn as you get older, maybe 40 is the age when you start to realise you need to respect other's in order to be respected, not everyone under 40 is rude, but nowadays they are reflecting the behaviour of others.

I agree with your observation. I'm 29. And I know many others like me. I think the problem today is not that there is more negativity in the world, but that you hear about it instantly no matter where is happens. Things were more isolated even when I was growing up in the 80's than they are now. The Internet and widespread use of satellite TV has made the world much smaller and the bad news and negativity much more easily accessible.

I am 31, a mother of 4 relatively polite and considerate young men, and I am adamant about manners. I believe in the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have done unto you." I also strongly believe in showing as much respect towards someone as they do to you.
Basically, if you do not like being treated that way you most certainly will not treat others that way BUT if others are not treating you appropriately, you are under no obligation to show them respect.

I have to disagree with you.
I am 63, and avoid people of my generation. I find old women gossipy and manipulative, old men arrogant and bossy. And all are rude if you dare disagree with them !
I live in this ghastly Cornish town full of all these HORRIBLE old people.
I wish I could go back to Southampton where all my 30-40 yr neighbours were pleasant and too busy to make trouble, like these retired people.
God, I hope I'm not like them !

I am in my mid 40s but remember that life was much simpler when I was a teenager..and If I had asked my parents for anything costing over £5 I would have got the lecture on how long it took my Dad to earn it

Younger people have no reference as to how things were in the past. They don't realize past injustices. The schools don't teach them anything except that every problem is America's fault. If they truly understood the consequences of certain actions, or inactions, they might see things differently.
They have an entitlement attitude.

Rudeness comes in all ages, shapes, colors, etc. I have met people over 40 that are incredibly rude and disrespectful and I have met people under 40 that are respectful.
It also depends on what you see as 'rude'.
