What Trade Would You Like To See Your Team Make?
At the trade deadline. Be serious, it actually has to make sense for both teams.
For Ottawa I'd like to see them get LeClaire, which I heard could happen. I think Vermette and picks were being thrown around as going to Columbus. As long as they don't trade this year's first pick, I'd like that trade. If they don't get him, I don't mind them waiting until summer for Backstrom or Khabibulin. I think that they made their big trade in getting Campoli to help the defense.
Also I've been gone for a long while, I just haven't had the time to come here with school and other things. I hope I have the time to come here more often during the playoffs. And its nice to see only hockey questions in the hockey section.
Yea I'm excited to see what Toronto does. They could really get some good stuff if they are smart. What would worry me if I were a Leaf fan was when Burke said "If I could make a deal that would put us in the playoffs, I would."
The team always seems to think they can sneak in at the last minute.

A few do-able moves:
-Antropov to Chicago for either a draft pick or a peek in the cupboard (prospect); a couple names come to mind. Give the Hawks some size in the pivot.
-Toskala to Pittsburgh for Jordan Staal. Pittsburgh needs a goaltender, and they have too many pivots. Similar cap numbers. If Ray Shero thinks Fleury is his guy, I'm calling Washington and seeing if they need goaltending help (and they do). Send back a #1 draft pick, or even better, let Burke do some shopping with their well stocked cabinet of prospects.
-Assuming you could get him to put Florida on his list, Kaberle to Florida for Bouwmeester and a low-round draft pick. Florida gets a puck-moving defenceman for Bouwmeester with a decent cap number, and the Leafs get a chance to sign Bouwmeester.
None of these are crazy, and they all work cap-wise.
I've come to realise that 90% of what Burke says is of the "hey, look- it's Elvis!" nature.

I really hope and think that Columbus should just look at trying to buy this year. It's not like they don't have any cap space or anything. Seems like every time the Jackets get rid of someone, the next year is their break out year. I still can't believe they got rid oh Zherdev.
Though, you mention good point and I think if they wait until summer, they could get many more benefits. Rick Nash has been rumored to want a long term contract with the Jackets, which would be really good for us. If Columbus makes the playoffs, this would only help in us keeping him. Pascal traded and us getting a good goalie in the summer would not be bad either.
Who knows, I'm just excited to see what Columbus does.

OK, here in Leaf Nation we need help in pretty much every facet of the game. So we're not all that picky. (mid-note: Burke has to say he's trying to get into the playoffs, whether he would actually try to get in this year is a different question)
Here's what we have to offer:
OK, now let's start the bidding.
Just kidding. We will likely see both Kaberle and Kubina moved. In return we need a froward who can score and is responsible in his own end. Our defence wouldn't look nearly as bad if we had forewards who would help out on occasion. I could see Kubina fetching the said foreward who can score 25 goals and they'd have to throw in a second round pick. Kaberle would get us a lot more. Maybe another foreward as described, plus a mid first round pick and a third rounder. Kaberle is actually a good defender and moves the puck very well, a hot commodity this time of year. Our forewards are a dime a dozen. Antropov and Ponikarovsky will get you another Antropov and Ponikarovsky. Trading them won't gain you much more than saving on sweater letters. Jason Blake might net something like a decent draft pick and a league ready player. Hard to imagine the Leafs getting front line players in exchange for the large collection of third line guys we have now. We don't have any forewards that other GMs are going to look at and say "we gotta have him at any cost" We do have some quality role players like Ian White, Dom Moore etc. that would get a look see, but nothing that stands out as must have.

in basic terms got here about... and that i will continuously be a Manny fan. he's unique and thrilling and a damn good hitter... the most desirable Righty contained in the game and he became tailor made for Fenway... Its a shame that both those obdurate egos had to damage eachother like they did, the red Sox administration and Manny. are you asking reason you study the writing on the wall that Tek isn't gonna have an uncomplicated bargin with the red Sox q4? he's gonna desire years... the red Sox under no circumstances supply years. i do not hate Damon as a lot as I used to, i imagine the red Sox botched that one, he's in straightforward words been to the DL once when you consider that he left Boston...and he became the face of the crew, and a catalist for the offense... they truly have not had a definate leadoff catalist when you consider that he left... Ellsbury nonetheless needs yet another 3 hundred and sixty 5 days or so... at the same time as that commerce went down i became pissed! Yankees continuously do this tho. Nomar, they were provided that one right... Nomar is worthless now, has been when you consider that spring 04. i do not imagine everyone in Boston likes Nomar anymore. i'm demise to work out what Braves followers say to this question...

I think leclair is a useless move
He is about as proven as Gerber and look how that turned out...
You cannot waste time on an unproven goalie... leclair could easily be a bust.
Kaberle is the only name possibly leaving TO and it wont be to a contender so who cares... lol
Kuba i think will get traded for a 2nd RP.
And There is no way in hell Minnesota is going to let Backstrom walk... they would overpay him before that happens...
I would like to se a team take a chance on Gaborik though. He is very good when healthy and having his right untill July 1st and only giving up a 2nd RP and a prospect if you are a good team would be great...
I would like to see something like
Gaborik to Philly
5th RP to Philly
Upshall to Minny
2nd RP to Minny
mid range prospect to Minny
something along those lines because a team like Philly can afford to take that chance...
Or chicago

Seriously, I just want the Bruins to get rid of PJ Axelsson. I have given him every second (third, fourth...) opportunity to impress me, and he has never. The hype around this guy in Boston is unexplainable. Papers claim he is a PK genius, and I see him often just gliding around. TV reporters might say he is a relentless forechecker, but I see someone doing figure 8s.
I'd give him up for nothing, but logically th B's could get a better 4th-line grinder.
2. Fernandez needs to be moved. With Rask in the wings and Thomas the obvious #1, I see no reason to keep him. He's done a great job bouncing back this year. I say trade him for a draft pick in next year's draft.

@mikea
Ted would never trade a guy like Semin, especially since his performance has gotten better. I believe my mom said that he was talking to a local radio station and said all the big guys aren't going anywhere. They're untouchable apparently.
I really want to see us get a strong, maybe veteran d-man. Our PK isn't good. I doubt we'll get someone like Pronger or Bouwmeester, but one can dream. As for who we're trading, I'm almost 100% positive that Nylander's leaving. He's been a healthy scratch for I don't know how many games in a row.

Wild trade away Gaborik for a high draft pick.
It would take a miracle for them to have a decent playoff run this year and since they will most likely lose Gabby to free agency this off season anyway, might as well get something for him.
Or if they keep Gaborik, have them trade away Marc-Andre Bergeron or Kim Johnsson (since Kurtis Foster has finally recovered from his broken leg) for a rental player like Tkackuk or Guerin and give it a shot at making a playoff run this year.

I would like to see the Pens try to get Antropov, Stajan, or Milan Hejduk...the problem is we have already traded a lot of picks so this would further deplete our ability to build for the future.
Leafsfan- I don't think the Pens would go after Toskala b/c they just acquired Garon not that long ago.

Stajan, Poni and Antropov for a coffee and donut.
Anything except Schenn to get Jay Bowmeester or Jordan Stall.
Toskala for anything so we will tank the rest of the season...the same with Kaberle and Kabina.
Keep Schenn, Moore and White.
