Who honestly believes Dale Jr. and Mark Martin can rebound?

Dale Jr - 27th, 39th, and 10th.

yeah he finished 10th at Cali, but didn't run well most of the race.

Mark Martin - 16th, 40th, and 40th

Yeah engine troubles could be to blame here, but he's struggling like Dale Jr.

Whats your take?

Oh, and I'm NOT an HMS, Dale Jr, or Mark Martin fan or hater. Just curious.

Update:

Edit:: I know it's only 3 races into the season, but the hole is getting deep already. Jr is 192 behind the leader and Martin is 248 behind the leader.

I think anything is possible. I know you know it's too early in the season, but there is a good chance for Dale Jr. and / or Mark to pull it off. [I wish they would give Mark better equipment. For ex., the Vegas race Mark was awesome in qualifying then poof! That really gets tiring for Mark and fans.] [Dale appears to be troubled from what I could pick up in weekend interviews. He wasn't his normal, being interviewed self.] Who knows? Time will tell.

    Get it straight.

Dale Jr - a few mistakes on pit road cost him the win he should have gotten

then he had a Top 10 run going at Cali only to blow up

then he went from 38th and one lap down to 8th, only to be caught by a caution while making a stop and seducing to 16th where he battled his way back for a Top 10.

Mark Martin - the Daytona 500 can honestly not even count. It was 48 laps short. That's 94 miles.

Blew up while having a good run.

Blew up while having a good run.

    Both CAN and WILL rebound.

Actually Dale Jr ran very well at Las Vegas but made the mistake early with speeding in the pits and then just alittle bad luck when he pitted and the caution came out and got put at the tale end of the lead lap....If that caution dont happen he is gonna finish in the top 5. He had a good car just a mistake and some bad luck...As for rebounding theres no doubt he can...Everyone throughout the season will finish at the end of the pack a few times...It just happened to Jr and martin earlier in the season than everyone else..

I think they can, provided they get all these issues out of the way. As much as I would love to see Mark in the Chase, and to win the title, I think he is going to have a harder time just making the cars last to the end of the race. Casey Mears wasn't doing all that great in the 5 car, either, and even Kyle Busch had a hard time with that team, but Mark is a better driver, and in being so, the cars are more competitive, so the equipment can't take it. The two Hendrick shops have to do a better job of sharing equipment in order for all 4 cars to make the Chase.

And please, give Mark engines that will last, huh?

  • I believe they will they just have to work out some of the bugs that they seem to have in the equipment at HMS this year its a long season and the "meat" of the season is coming up and JR and Martin are both good on the ones coming up.

They both have the talent and the teams to get back on track. Martin has been running pretty good at all three races but has had terrible finishes. I can see him making the chase but not a guarantee. Junior does not do well historically in the first 1/4 of the season. Not sure if he has a "hangover" from not racing or what but he will be in the chase.

They both still have plenty of time to make up the deficit. Mark esp. will rebound if HMS finally gets the bugs out of the engines. It's not his ability that's to blame--he was running well until he had mechanical trouble.

As for the hole getting deeper, any of the other drivers could have difficulties or bad luck and sink in points before the Chase rolls around. It's too early to tell.

I'm sure they will rebound, there have only been 3 races, Dale Jr runs good in Atlanta, not sure about Mark. But HMS will get everything together. They are not the only drivers struggling right now. Its a long season, I'm not worried.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

i think he definitely has a chance. i don't ever remember a year that mark didn't when he ran a full schedule but i may be wrong. i think they will both make the chase. lenny based on the head to head this year martins average finish this year is 13 junior 13.7. martin is driving the junk dei cars that ruined jr's season last year, junior has top notch hms cars this year. do the math and face reality. how many spots did jr. pick up with the hms cars compared to the junk mark is driving.

Not to worry, it's way too early to be doom & gloom. From here on out a lot of the tracks are ones that both Junior & Mark Martin run really good at. Atlanta would be a good example for Junior. That's one of his favorite tracks & so is Bristol. It's not just them that are having engine troubles, a lot of teams are. You will see Junior in the Chase. I would luv to see Mark Martin there too, but time will tell. Now is when the teams need to works out all the bugs so to speak but it's not time to count anybody out.
