How much do you trust the government?

Whether its Democrats or Republicans in charge.

    Trust doesn't enter into it.

The government is the only public institution in which I have any formal say whatsoever.

And power denied the government does not devolve to the general public. It devolves to other, capitalist institutions. In which I have no say.

Therefore I support a goverment not run by republicans. So that I will be less subject to the influence of the capitalists who own most of the property in this country, who exercise so much power over the lives of individuals.

Which in practice means I must support the democrats, because they are the only realistic opposition the republicans have.

When you fringe voters have the numbers to do anything with I might vote for your crackpot hero. maybe.

I feel safer with the Democrats in charge. Republicans wouldn't be to bad if they'd get back to the honorable likes of Everett Dirksen or Berry Goldwater

Not much. I try not to rely on the government for my success. I don't think bureaucracies are very dependable or efficient. I'm annoyed when my paycheck is deduced for taxes and a percentage of those funds will probably go to pork spending.

I also don't depend on my government 100% for self-defense. I've heard horror stories about sloppy 911 dispatchers, police who didn't show, etc. I think it's best to own a gun in the home for self-defense and to call police when necessary. Despite my pessimism in government efficiency, I have a great deal of respect for police men, firefighters, and others who devote their lives to helping others.

I'm a lib, but I never trust them too much. But they can earn more of my trust by following through on their campaign promises. I'll give Obama a B- right now. So he has room for improvement. But I'll admit, he's on a heck of a streak.

There are way to many double standards for politicians. If every politician had to recite the constitution and the reason it was written and why they are to uphold it at all costs.

Then I think that our politicians would be better able to govern.

America obtained the #1 status because of the government's involvement. There's just enough- and no matter how much people on YA ***** and moan, in the end of they day they're going to continue living in America because no other place offers the same protection as this country.
