Can snakes see infrared?

I have one heat lamp over my snakes tank. I'm just wondering if she can see the red light when it's on.

I know she can feel it but can she SEE it?

Only certain snakes have this ability...........those that are classified as "Pit Vipers" are the most famous.

Others include various (but not all) boas and pythons that have these pits along the ridge of their mouth......called "labial pits"

Snakes do not have very god eye sight

    They can only see shadows

Their big sense that they use often is smell

So no they cannot notice a red light only day light

They cannot see it but, as obilysk says, they may be able to use other senses.
