Now as an Englishman this is highly unauthodox to go for an Aussie but I say North.
Think of the situation: This guy's on debut, has seen part of the order collapse earlier on already and is facing one of the best bowling attacks in the world.
Also, most of the others were made on dead, flat wickets. Not to say they weren't good knocks, but almost anyone (Including Geoff Boycott's grandmother!) could have made runs on them.

AB De Villiers - 104* in Perth against Australia
Innings was played under a lot of pressure, and this innings probably won that Perth test for SA, Which led them to win the Series against Aus for the first time in a long time.

You gotta judge the innings on how well that person helped his team get out of a sticky situation..
I would rate debutant Norths innings as the best so far, as that match could have gone either way at that stage.. Deviller's comes 2nd, but unfortunately he never had much support at the other end
Source(s): All the other listed players were playin on a flat pitch where squaring is absolutely easy.. My answer is based on quality and not quantity:-) - 1 decade ago
According to me, North's innings is right on top out of these. Not only because he scored his century on debut, but also because that century turned the game totally in Australia's favour. Australia were in deep touble when North walked in to bat, after losing Clarke, Hussey and Ricky in quick succession. But still, North batted superbly with a tailender and that ton deserved every praise it got.

AB DeVilliers 104*- Made under a lot of pressure plus on a swinging and seaming pitch, had a strike rate above 50 and he was not out, couldnt be better!

Mitch Johnson 96 - it was convincing and some powerful sixes and fours not bad for a tailender... and oh yeah Marcus north too.
