When a Yahoo member dies, what happens to his/her account?

After not being used for a long period of time (log on to it), it gets automatically deleted for inactivity.

In the event U fail to use your account after a certain period - it automatically cancels!

I being ill / admitted to hospital. On recovery and thus able to open my e-mail account - I informed it was no longer valid as I'd not used for over a several week period!

Very upset because no matter what I tried - I could not get it reactivated - thus lost contact with many sources and friends!

I believe its still the same - hasn't improved at all - no one answers your queries - despite the contact notices posted - it just remains dead / ignored!

It depends, some accounts stay open for a long time, I used to be with both AOL and NTL, 5 years on both my AOL and NTL accounts still exist and I can log in to them still via webmail, even though I didn't use them for a good few years. I'm now back with NTL/Virgin, but they kept me e-mail account open for about 5 years, however other companies close the e-mail accounts down quite quickly, Eclipse my previous ISP shut my e-mail account down about a week after leaving them. Hotmail shuts the account down after a few months. It all depends on what Yahoo's policy is and whether or not they actively enforce it.
