Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

I was test driving a Dodge Ram 2500 2001 after a tune up ( plugs, wires). The cab filled with smoke and smoke was coming from the defrost and floor vents. It was white and brown smoke. I was sent to the hospital about five minutes after being exposed to smoke, and hospital told me it was carbon monoxide poisoning. Has any one ever heard of this? And if so what was it?

if it was carbon monoxide poisoning it has to be engine exhaust<

carbon monoxide has no odor, and it tends to come from the exhaust/muffler area. Since the smoke was coming into the cabin from the vents, most likely it was a glitch in the radiator (sounds like water and/or antifreeze steamed in).

take it back to the shop which did the tuneup and have them doublecheck the radiator hoses going into the cabin - also the heater and cooler (a/c) connections. Sorry for the unprofessional descriptions.

Sounds like a very bad exhaust leak that came in through the fresh air vent and entered the cab.

Yes, prob exhaust pouring out from the engine compartment and entering the fresh air intake.
