I have honestly not had any experience with what a lot of people in Canada complain about. The longest wait I have ever had in a hospital ER is 15 minutes. When my dad had cancer, he was into treatment within less than 1 month, and was even provided with accommodations free of charge once it became too difficult for him to travel to the city for treatment (we lived in a town of 200 people...it wasn't the fault of the healthcare system, unless you have heard of any towns of 200 people anywhere else having cancer clinics). Also, when I had my daughter, I couldn't imagine anything that could have went better with the delivery or the hospital stay.

By the way, I really don't know what Kate is talking about. We are not poor by any means, but I have never paid for anything, not even the private room that I had after having my daughter.

Im from Canada and I do like our health care system it has its issues however it's far better than the American system , I have an aunt who is a nurse in the states and I have other American family and I've seen their appalling health care system and its just sad for a developed country.

Why does Canada have #10 highest crime rate in the world? Much higher than the US?

    # Iceland

    # Sweden

    # New Zealand

    # Grenada

    # Norway

    # England & Wales

    # Denmark

    # Finland

    # Scotland

    # Canada

And why do most of the countries on the list have socialized medicine?

Waiting list for Cardiac surgery in Canada:

    http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/waitlist/cardiac.html

Now lets take one of those as an example:

    Dr. Shahzad Karim

    9 patients

    11.3 weeks wait

Now if I were to go to Dr. Karim for Cardiac surgery, I would be 10th on the waiting list, and I would have 11.3 weeks to wait for my surgery.

Now, why am I waiting 11.3 weeks for cardiac surgery with only 9 other patients ahead of me? If I need cardiac surgery, can I afford to vwait 11.3 weeks? How long does cardiac surgery take? A few hours? Why cant he do a couple of them a day? Even one a day? Then I would have to wait only 10 days instead of 11.3 weeks. Whats wrong with this picture?

I live in Quebec...we go to the US for our healthcare....If you get sick in Canada, then you may spend all day just to get an aspirin in a government clinic....we waited for 6 months for my mom's hip replacement before deciding to pay for it ourselves in Cleveland...don't go socialized Americans!

    I doubt it.

I had a chat friend in Montreal. Her father was very sick and she was beside herself because she couldn't get treatment. She constantly railed and cried because her father was getting worse and she couldn't do anything but watch him die which he eventually did.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
