Barbie and tattoos? What are they doing to her? Will it be navel and vag*** rings next? Slutty Barbie?

Disgusting. I grew up with normal Barbie thank goodness. Mattel is missing the boat.

Update:

Barbie is now sold with tattoos. I was 5 when I played with her. I used to cut all her hair off, yet is she bald? They are beginning to cross the line and how far will they go?

i don't see a problem with it. i agree with Mattel, it lets them express a bit of freedom and creativity. playing with a barbie that you can put tattoos on is not forcing them to get a tattoo. also, if they are playing with barbies then they are also too young to get a tattoo... so it doesn't matter if they are exposed to it on a doll.

besides... there are much much much worse things for children to get exposed to nowadays on tv and the internet. this is mild.

I just saw the article about this on the Yahoo! homepage and I have mixed feelings about it but I think the fact that you are calling the barbie a slut because she has tattoos is offensive. I have tattoos and piercings and I am not slutty. I think you have to accept that "normal" is changing, unfortunately, and that the majority of women are no longer traditional.

I know that some people may argue that a tattooed Barbie would be teaching young girls negative values, but it can be argued that the "normal" Barbie is teaching young girls to have a distorted body image.

This is a really controversial topic that has really strong arguments on both sides. I personally have a hard time supporting a single side. I just think that calling the tattooed Barbie a slut is a little bit extreme.

It doesn't nearly have as much to do with Barbie, as it does with young women being the largest growing group of people getting skin art done right now. It makes sense that Barbie would be following the fashion trends. Now the down south stuff you mentioned isn't going to happen. But I know you were just making a point. Actually, this is the first I'd heard about the doll having tattoos. First time for everything, I suppose.

    Here's an article about it:

(You can find many more online. Some very amusing, in my opinion.)

I liked what the person above me said about the doctor Barbie and stuff... just because they're playing with a doll that is a doctor doesn't mean they WANT to be a doctor. It's just a doll they can decorate and make pretty.

Mostly all the little kids love temporary tattoos... and Barbie having some shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I for one do no longer probable care approximately my infants having a temp tattoo, i've got no tattoos myself no longer some thing i choose on my skin, yet I even have mentioned before i would not recommendations a tattoo yet probable would not ever pass concept with it. Your going to get a super style of mixed thoughts in this subject some have self assurance pass away the physique bare and a few say get them because of the fact they look at it as artwork. I even have seen tattoos that i presumed have been purely suitable and that i've got seen some that I regardless of the undeniable fact that oh god who in there precise recommendations would completely try this to there physique. As for barbie i do no longer see that enormous deal lower back human beings have tattoos. Now pregnant barbie now it quite is a few thing of subject lol.

I don't see what the big deal is. Now a days you cant go anywhere without seeing a tattoo you go to the mall, the grocery store, even church and I bet you'll see more than one. Its not like its some skull and bones tattoo on the barbie. Its just a small butterfly. I highly doubt that children that play with this doll are going to go illegally cover their body's in tattoos at age 12. If they do decide to do that at age 18 its probably not because they played with a barbie that had a tattoo.

I don't think this barbie will influence children to get a tattoo. Do all the little girls who play with Doctor barbie run out and become doctors?? NO i didn't think so.

tattoos are pretty common nowadays im sure most children have seen a tattoo by now no matter where they go. im not a fan of the tattoo idea but at the same time im not against it. its not like its going to make the child want a tattoo now. its like if a child was playing with doctor barbie or cheer leading barbie does that make them want to join that field later on in life? i doubt it. most kids wont even remember their barbies once they are teens.

Who cares? If parents don't want their daughters to play with a tattooed Barbie, then she won't sell and she'll be taken off the market.

Why not ? Barbie can have anything she wants. She has town houses, and dream mansions a couple of cars. Why not a tattoo?

If Skipper gets tattoos then that's a problem.

Some how I don't think it will be a good seller. But who knows?

I don't see a problem with it. I used to tattoo my barbies with gel pens and color their hair with highlighter or food coloring.

    It's a barbie

Besides, tattoo's are more mainstream and fashionable than before. Not as controversial. An no one is forcing you to own one. If you don't like it, don't buy it. There are more open-minded parents who are willing to let their kids play and have fun with a toy.
