Why does sugar free gum have a calorie count?

Sugar free gum has a calorie count listed. Gum is not "eaten" it is chewed. The saliva is swallowed not the gum. My thought is that you expend more calories chewing the gum since it is not eaten.

Just wondering....

You still absorb calories. When you eat celery, your body actually burns more calories to send the celery through your system than it absorbs from the celery. So basically, celery has negative calories, but it wouldn't say that 1 oz of celery has -15 calories or something like that. It only gives the amount in the actual product.

Also, it doesn't matter whether or not you swallow it. Just think of chewing tobacco. People that chew don't swallow (generally), they spit it out instead. However, there are still harmful substances that are absorbed through the mouth that go into the bloodstream.

On another note, would you say that fried chicken only has calories if you eat it?

I don't think it's necessary to count the calories from the sugar free gum because you're probably burning up those calories just by chewing the gum or talking and chewing at the same time.

Reduce ones stress. Your stress hormone cortisol may be activated by extremely low-calorie diets, intense training, lack of snooze and day-to-day worries, which ends in a spike in glucose levels in your blood. More worryingly, it can contribute to blocked arteries and fat build around your internal organs, putting you in danger of diabetes and heart disease. The only real prescription for this is to… calm down.

Diabetics can eat anything a non-diabetic can eat. You just have to make an adjustment for carbs/sugars. Learn here https://tr.im/Zwn0E

It is better for diabetics to eat slow burning carbs: potatoes, peanut butter, vegetables, breads, dairy products, etc. VS. fast burning carbs: candy, sugared soda, cakes, ice cream, anything high in sugar. Just know what your carb/insulin ratios (how much insulin you have to give yourself for the amount of carbs you are intaking) are. Adjust according to the amount of carbs(sugars) you are intaking. And, you should be fine. Natural sugars are better than processed sugars.

In the mood for the hot meal? Make a enormous pot of veggie bean soups, divide into two-cup containers, and store within the freezer. Before bed, place a container inside the fridge, then grab it before heading out the door every day.
