I use a dishwasher. I do rinse & wipe with a sponge before they go into the dishwasher. & I do use gloves. The brand doesn't matter. I do it because our water is very harsh & you dry out fast here. It is awful!

I wash dishes with a dishwasher and give them a quick rinse first only because they may sit in there for a couple of days before the dishwasher is full. Newer machines don't require a rinse if they are going to be run soon after the meal

If i just have a couple of dishes then i'll hand wash them. But like the dinner dishes i put in the dishwasher, yes i do rinse them off before i put them in the dishwasher. No i dont use any rubber gloves for any of these tasks.

I wash by hand, and sometimes in the winter I may wear gloves; but I haven't in a long time. Wintertime is much worse on hands. When at my mon's house, we rinse them well before putting them in the dishwasher. After meals, we just drop the dishes off into a sink full of water. Then, we put them in the dishwasher.

  • I used to wash by hand because I assumed I was more efficient at using hot water than a dishwasher that also uses electricity to slosh the water around.

Then I found out that in a study of 113 European subjects chosen at random, almost none of the subjects were able to outperform an energy efficient dishwasher in terms of the amount of energy and water used, and in some cases the human subjects used over 25 gallons of water to do one load (12 place settings).

It is possible to do better than a dishwasher but I would guess 99% of those who try, unwittingly use more energy than the dishwasher would, plus they spend an extra week or two a year of full-time dishwashing!

I have never owned a dishwasher. Everything in our house is hand washed, rinsed and usually air dried. Clean washcloth used for every load of dishes and any used sponge is zapped in microwave to kill any little lurking germs (lol). I use the cheap gloves when I do cleaning with harsh liquids cause I can throw them out after using.

I use my dishwasher for most things like tableware, silverware, glasses, coffee mugs, mixing bowls and the like. I do usually wash my pots and pans, baking pans, cookie sheets by hand. And sometimes it depends on how energetic I'm feeling!

We give the dishes a quick rinse or a scrape into the trash but don't waste the water standing there rinsing and rinsing.

I wash the dishes in the dishwasher. I rinse before putting them in.

When I have a pot to big to go in the dishwasher I wash it by hand but I don't use any gloves.

I use the dishwasher for everything except pots and pans and very delicate things. It is definitely easier to put them in there and then just put them away after they are all cleaned and dried. I do not usually gloves to wash the pots, etc. though. My skin does get a little bit dried out from the dishwashing liquid but some of them are not as harsh and drying as others.

The only dishes i clean by hand are big things like cookie sheets and large pots. everything else goes in the dishwasher. i rinse a little then put them right in. Since i started using Lemi-shine along with the Electrosol Tabs (now called finish) everything comes out spotless. The lemi-shine is the key, fantastic stuff.
