light weight, cheap notebook?!?

Samsung NC10, its by far the best of the new netbooks, everyone I know who uses one loves it, the battery life is almost 5-6hrs

I just lef this answer on another question lol so I'm gonna sum it up. I just bought a Dell Inspiron Mini. There is a new line of small computers (it's 8.5") It doesn't have a lot of memory but it's very cheap, mine was $300. You can buy them from Acer, HP, Dell, and most of the other companies. Check them out on Bestbuy.com or the website for the computer manufacturers. I like them a lot. I would tell you a store in London but I'm from the USA sorry .:)

in fairness thiefs arent too picky. If they see an easy target they will take the laptop and dont really care to check its specs first.

Agreed acer is probably the way to go if your talking cheap but with cheap comes a pretty poor make so dont expect too much.

You are always going to pay more in the shops though for your laptop and especially in london central. My guess is you could buy a nice little sony vaio online for the same price and a london central acer.

good luck lite and cjeap try one laptop per child they are light weight and cheap but too small keys blus it get only 100 chrages out of the batterire
