Can God forgive or would God forgive if.............?

A friend of mine has lived a nightmare of a life. At one point, he was making a six figure salary at Ford Motors and was being flown all over the world for training. He had reached the pinnacle of success even before reaching the age of 23. Years later, go ends up in Texas on a weapon charge, not murder or rape, and was given ten years. While in prison, he was beaten mercilessly because he would not join any gang. Because he was a white , one notorious Latin gang broke most of the bones in his face and told him that he either kill or be killed. He was their exterminator. He told me that the prison guards are always in on it, for they would arrange for the person to be killed. He could not ask for help, for it was a death warrant. Who was he going to ask, the guards? Now that he is out and is no longer under any threats from the gangs, he feels sorry for what he has done. He was never truly violent or aggressive. Even today, he is mild mannered.

I told him that I really could not speak with authority, for the very thought of being forced to kill or be killed is somthing I do not want to face. However, this is not his reality. I told him that God can forgive anything, but I basically kept rambling because somebody's child, brother, husband, father, cousin, grandson, boyfriend and the likes was killed in cold blood. Regardless of the circumstances, they are still dead!! The only thing I could hang my hat on was the fact that he was made to do it. He could not tell the authorities, for they were as corrupted as the gangs. He said that the gaurds are always paid off in cash. Some purcahse new trucks from monies directly from inmates. My question to you, is what do I tell him? How do I address something as serious as this? Can God actually and is willing to forgive this? Is this similar to our soldiers who are coming home and having killed not just the enemy but women and children in Iraq? They are put in a position where they have to do things that they would not ordinarily do. You tell me!!!

I'll let the Apostle Paul tell you.

1 Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

    Hi Richard

The answer is YES. God can, and will forgive those who REPENT of their sins. The Apostle Paul was the worst of the worst. He killed Christians just because they were Christians. Until one day he met Jesus on a road, and his heart was changed. He then became someone who loved the Lord, and lived to bring the gospel to all the Gentiles. If someone like Paul can be forgiven, and someone like me can be forgiven, your friend also may be forgiven. The key to this is REPENTANCE. Repentance means that you are truly sorry for what you did, and you have TURNED AWAY from that sin, and have given your life to Christ. If your friend does this from his heart (and God knows the heart of men-there is no fooling Him). Then he can be SAVED. That's the good news. Isn't God awesome? Go tell your friend the good news! Pray with him, and tell him to repent and ask forgiveness from the Lord, and to accept Jesus into his heart. Then, go live his life for Him.

All will be well. God Bless

There is no circumstances that God will not forgive some one unless they reject the Lord and his " Free gift " of eternal salvation while that person is still alive. Go hear the Word of God at a bible believing church )usually Independent church) and read the bible daily. Romans 10:17 " So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Hebrews 4:12 " For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Isaiah 55:6 " Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." Romans 10:13 " For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." For TODAY is the Day of Salvation .Tomorrow is NOT guaranteed. Well, we can learn from the example of David in the Bible about this. He was a king who had a deep love for God, affection for lowly ones, and a yearning for justice. However, he ended up committing adultery with the wife of one of his trusted men, Uriah. Then, when she became pregnant as a result of his adultery, he had Uriah killed. Both very serious sins.

However, he repented, accepted full responsibility for his actions, paid dearly for them, and ended up being forgiven by God, even being listed as one of several notable faithful ones at Hebrews 11:32.

    Psalm 51:10 says - "The sacrifices to God are a broken spirit;

A heart broken and crushed, O God, you will not despise."

Isaiah 1:18 - "'Come, now, you people, and let us set matters straight between us,' says Jehovah. 'Though the sins of you people should prove to be as scarlet, they will be made white just like snow; though they should be red like crimson cloth, they will become even like wool."

2 Peter 3:9 says Jehovah "does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance."

For that reason, he sent his only-begotten Son to give his life as a ransom in exchange for our sins. (John 3:16; 17:3; Eph. 1:7) Forgiveness isn't automatic, of course, but with sincere repentance, it is possible.

Hebrews 11:6 says that Jehovah becomes "the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him."

The Memorial of Jesus' Christ's death is next month, on April 9th. (That is the date Nisan 14 falls on this year.) Jehovah's Witnesses around the world will be observing that, and there will be a very comforting, informative discourse given about the value of Jesus' sacrifice, and the love Jehovah God and Jesus Christ both showed in providing that for us. Perhaps if he attended that, he would find reason for confidence that he can be forgiven.

I wish I had more time to answer.

But I can assure you, that YES, God will forgive your friend, and anyone, of anything when they repent of their sin.

One example I can give you from the Bible is that of Saul of Tarsus. He was a cruel man, killing many men, women, and children. Their crime? Being Christians, followers of Jesus.

But Saul met Jesus on the road to Damascus, and thereafter Saul was named Paul, and was God's great apostle to the Gentiles, declaring the good news, the gospel of Christ to the world.

Though Paul has been dead for a very long time, he still influences people through his writings in the Bible. He wrote most of the New Testament.

If God can forgive someone like a hardened murder like Paul, He can certainly forgive your friend. He will most certainly forgive anyone who comes to Him. ("I will in no wise cast out" -- John 6:37)

    Matthew 11:28-30

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

May God bless you and your friend. I'll be praying for you both!

Where there is life there is hope!

Sad for those who judge and not acknowledge their sinful nature to be forgiven.

If you look on a specific woman to lust, you have already committed adultery with her in you heart.

If you have hated a brother or fellow man in your heart, you have already murdered him there.

If you slander and character assassinate someone, you have already murdered them with your words.

You need that same forgiveness that you doubt toward someone else?

Jesus came into the world not to condemn it but that through Him it might be saved. "The world" means every person that ever has and ever will inhabit here, from Me! :- ) to You! :- ) ,

It is the Father's will that none should perish!

    Me! :- )

God will forgive nearly anyone of almost anything, provided they are truly repentant of their former course. As for those who've died? God has the power over death and very soon will exercise that power. So you can tell him, all is not lost. but to take advantage of this provision, requires taking in accurate knowledge of God and His Purpose for man and the earth. Jehovah's Witnesses would be more than happy to study the Bible with the both of you to help you to gain that knowledge. If you would like to go forward with this email me or go to www.watchtower.org and I promise you won't regret your decision.

Yes, God can and will forgive anyone who comes to Him, who repents of sin, no matter how great.

"Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more" Romans 5:20

Remember the apostle Paul -- he murdered Christians, and Christ forgave him and saved him and used him mightily.

Remember David -- he took Bathsheba and killed her husband, but he repented and God forgave him.

Christ took our punishment on the cross... if he was just a normal man, it wouldn't have been enough for a world of sin, but He is God's Son, infinitely worthy! His death is sufficient.

Source(s): "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." II Corinthians 5:21

Thankfully such a thing is not for US to judge even remotely accurately regardless of what we THINK we know of God and His love, justice and mercy....

Let's leave it in HIS hands and I can trust that knowing all things HE will rightly judge your friend, as He will judge you and I based on the totality of our lives, hearts and choices and circumstances..... Anyone who claims to know for certainty is off base if you ask me.

There is absolutely nothing, no sin, that will not be forgiven if a person asks God truly for forgiveness in humility and repentance.

It is important to know that it is because of Jesus Christ we may come before the throne of grace (God) to obtain mercy.

I pray that Jesus will restore the life of your friend, in a way that glorifies God and awes everyone who witnesses it.
