When filing a tax return how many years do you have to say FKA when a company changes it's name?

I am preparing a return for a company, that changed names a couple of years ago.
How many years do I need to keep on referring to them as "Company X, FKA Company Y" on the informational name part of the tax return. I thought there was like a three year statue of when you could drop the FKA part.... but I am not sure. Anyone know ?

Do you mean on the company's return? There is a box that you check which will tell the IRS that the name is new. (You have the same EIN, right?)
