Why is the drive to live dying?

A lot of people right now in the world want to end their lives. I know this because I see this around me in peers- friends, movies, in myself. Most of them- then buckle up and continue living... but the question is- Are people becoming laid back? Has life become more difficult? Is media affecting us so adversely? Any other reasons? Or finally, is it just me?

Well right now some people are blaming recent suicides on the economy. A lot of people are losing their jobs and becoming homeless. Its really a sad situation.

Life is life. That's all there is too it. Our purpose here is unknown, its an age old question we can't ever properly answer.

Life will always be difficult, for everyone at some point. Its not fair to suggest its more difficult today than it was say a hundred years ago, technological advances mean better health care, abolition of slavery and better general living standards argue against that.

There will always be external influences that will challenge and make us feel bad. Its the media today, its the religion yesterday, and kings and queens before then.

Being laid back and apathetic isn't the answer. I can't say what is - i'm not nearly as wise enough to. All i can say is the best way to beat that is to find some purpose - i can rattle off a million reasons to "live" but your the one who has to go out and live it. Find something that means a lot to you and pursue it. Humanitarian work, knowledge and all sorts.

Source(s): A few years ago I asked "what's the point?" and lucky chance means I can answer your question today. Just find your purpose and you'll be fine.

I completely understand what your seeing, Even with Religion and Holidays we've become so much more relaxed with a 'Whatever" attitude. year after year i've seen less and less christmas lights, Now its a Chore to put christmas lights up when it used to be a Joy.

Things are changing within ourselves, we've become so involved with what "We" as a person wants and needs then others. And ontop of that we've become overpopulated, If there's more people then that means Less for everyone else. So at this moment Sin has dominated most of everyones lives, and Sin is mostly about "Fun" living in the moment just like that guy above me said "Life is to short so live it up" That is Sin talking within him. And when you go out and have parties and do knaughty things It only feels good for a little while, Then when its gone and you've sobered up you feel like crap and can't wait until the next Entertainment comes. ~That is not the Way!

Be Strong my friend and Take notice of all things.

I think this is complacency and indifference that you describe here. Passive involvement.

I also think that when we become more actively involved with one another, passion for will re-ignite and become more evident.
