What is the going rate for babysitting?

I am watching two kids (ages 2 and 3) for two days a week, eleven hours at a time. How much should I charge?

Update:

When the parents came to pick up the three children, it was 1am and she paid me as they walked out the door. For two days of feeding, diapering, entertaining, cuddling and watching them like a hawk I got $50. Roughly $2 an hour. Apparently that is the going rate around here. But they have money for tanning, manicures, going out with friends and such. I just retired from childcare at 1:30am.

It depends on where you live, some elite neighborhoods have a rate of $13-$15 and other low income areas are only $8.

You should charge somewhere between those ranges, possibly $10 an hour, but considering you are watching two kids add another dollar to it. $11/hr

Ask the parents how much an hour they think their kid is worth. Will get you a high rate, GAURENTEED.
